Let’s reveal some more designers of the IDENTITY DRESS 2015! Three very different approaches to fashion that will assure a diverse experience of a dress: Dóra Mojzes, Ece Ozalp, and Eleftheria Arapoglou.
DÓRA MOJZES (Hungary)
Dóra Mojzes graduated from the Moholi-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest in 2008. With her graduating collection she won the prize of the Hungarian Artists’ National Association. A year later she launched her own brand Dora Mojzes, now labeled as Y.ld by Dóra Mojzes. Her debut collection drew a lot of attention as she managed to create a unique look of womenswear she has designed. As a result of her distinctive aesthetics she has soon become a recognisable name of the Hungarian fashion, whereas her work has been featured in relevant Hungarian media. She also got noticed overseas, by celebrities such as Tyra Banks and Kanye West. A two times Hungarian Designer of the Year (in 2011 and 2012) has yet found her place in two international fashion books – New on the Catwalk by Patrice Farameh, and Fast Forward Fashion by Nathalie Grolimund, with her work showcased next to the respected design forces such as Vivienne Westwood and Viktor & Rolf.
Turkey based Ece Ozalp followed her childhood dream to design clothes, even though she had previously graduated from international finance. After graduating from fashion design and marketing at Lasalle College International in Istanbul, she focused in designing bags. The precious experiences of bag design and production came from working at various design ateliers. In 2014 Ece lauched her own brand CaseMyLove, but only a year after she designed the Ece Ozalp debut womenswear collection “Perception” (Spring/Summer 2016), and showcased it at the FASHIONCLASH Festival in Maastricht (Netherlands). Combining clean geometric cuts and kaleidoscopic prints, the designer created a futuristic yet romantic atmosphere, the illusion of a snow princess, which indicates Ece Ozalp is a name to remember.
ELEFTHERIA ARAPOGLOU / DIGITARIA (Greece)
Graduating in 2001 from fashion design at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design (now University for the Creative Arts) in London, Eleftheria Arapoglou preceded her career as a fashion editor at Ozon Magazine in Athens-Greece. Eager to design she established an avant-garde label named LasCosasQueNosElevan (LACQNE) in 2004, targeting women searching for different and subversive designs. In 2008 Eleftheria launched a new label – Digitaria, offering both womenswear and menswear, and has established herself as a well noted designer in and outside of Greece. The label is known for merging wearability with a high-end appeal. It holds a distinctive style that stands out for the cut, the shape, and the attitude. Eleftheria Arapoglou has often teamed up with a variety of artists, joining art-related initiatives and organisations, such as XYZ Projects at Athens Biennale, Kunsthalle Athena, Benaki Museum, La Gaite Lyrique Museum in Paris, and Central Museum Utrecht to name just a few.
The next three designers of the 3rd edition of IDENTITY DRESS follow in a couple of days! Stay tuned for more…
